Everything.

An arm stretched, could it be stretched further? The clouds seem to have left, could there be sunshine? Thirst has been quenched, could stomachs be filled?
A little more, a little longer.

And surprisingly, when the arm is stretched further, it starts to pain. When the sun shines brightly, the temperature gets warmer. When stomachs are filled, sickness dawns.

Everything never seems to be enough, nothing is too much; too much chaos, too much peace; too much laughter, only tears. What do we want? Where do we belong? Do we belong? Do we want? Mind is overloaded, desire takes over, you want to break free, you want to fly, but, if, where, how---- STOP.

Now, keep breathing.

There was a point in your life when you had nothing but dreams. Your dreams turned into reality, and then reality became better than your dreams.
You dream further, you feel deprived.
A viscous cycle: The more you have, the more you desire. The more you desire, the lesser you have.

Happiness lies in satisfaction.
Where is the satisfaction in us? Where is the contentment? Where do we meet our equilibrium point?

It lies where the truth hides in us, the truth that even everything is not enough for us.
The moment we accept this, even nothing will be enough.
Because we'd know, that for desires and dreams, sky IS the limit.

Finding her equilibrium,

She's Got Wings To Fly

“A feminist is anyone who recognizes the equality and full humanity of women and men.” ~Gloria Steinem

Cradled in the arms of her mother, she sleeps soundly; unaware of what the future holds.  Does it hold her name in the highest glory in the world of numbers? Or does the brilliance of her words move mountains by moving hearts? Or does the darkness of tired social norms engulf her light?

She doesn't demand the standing of a Goddess, the importance of someone extraordinary; all she demands is some space- some space where she can spread her wings, stretch her huddled limbs, and prepare to fly as much as her potency promises. She doesn't demand to be held above him, she wants to be allowed to match shoulders with him. She wants to be considered a person full of potential, intellect and strength.

After the unfortunate Delhi Gang Rape, one can recall the magnificent uprising against the obnoxious crime and also the sweet satisfaction on seeing the brewing of a revolution. However, these ardent footsteps didn't even walk a mile, and their pace softened. Sub standard humor proceeded by sexism and superfluous chauvinism have again started to produce squeals of laughter, and patriarchy doesn't seem like such a big deal.
Why? Did we march with candles in our hands just to let the fire in us sizzle off? Did we cry feign tears of concern, just to let the wails of other women go unheard? I doubt.
Till date, one can hear girls being called provocative for the clothes they wear, people they meet, places they go and views they hold.
Whatever happened to the notion of men being chivalrous and aware of the fact that they’re not animals and cannot be ‘provoked’ into doing something detestable? I fail to understand how wearing short dresses and blogging about gay rights is ‘wrong’ and raping a woman is ‘not a big deal’? How is the bringing up of a man not questioned, but the ‘morals’ of the harassed victim put under trial?
Violence against women, an unfair share in education and underestimation are not only the roots which weaken the sensibilities of the society, but also produce hurdles for the next stars, who possess XX chromosomes to shine bright. I wonder how many stars died out without shining and how many Newtons, Teresas, Lincolns and Curies died nameless. Today, we have a weapon to slash this unfair stereotypical society with. Today, we can choose to fight and speak our minds, not only for ourselves, but for all those who aren't fortunate enough. Today, we can pick feminism over the sexism, to eradicate patriarchy from the very roots.
I, in no way suggest that sexism only affects women. The prejudice is sadly giving men the underhand, too. Sexual assault, violence, and other such evils are harming the male members of the society, too; but the eyes blinded by bias, fail to see that men need help, too. Women ARE NOT born to be the victim. As believed by many, we don’t demand superiority, we demand equality! Or, wait. How can we demand something we already have? Women ARE as powerful as men; we demand recognition.

She opens her eyes and smiles. She sees lakes of opportunity streaming in, and reflections of the rainbows of equality in them. She doesn't need to be scared. She isn't inferior to anyone. She spreads her wings and flies
